HOSPITALITY 360
This course covers each department within standard Hotel Operations and each subject is followed up with a written or practical exam.

The course includes:

  • Public Health and safe working practices/HACCP 

  • Customer Service (AHLEI certification)

  • Front Office 

  • Housekeeping 

  • Bartending 

  • Restaurant 

 

Added courses once Hospitality 360 has been completed

  • Sint Maarten Culture & History

CULINARY ARTS
This course covers all aspects of kitchen operation and each subject is followed up with a written or practical exam.

The course includes:

  • Butchery

  • Bakery

  • Pastry

  • Hot and cold Kitchen Operations 

  • Customer Service (AHLEI certification)

  • Personal Development

  • Public Health and safe working practices

  • Food Handlers certification (HACCP)

  • Cost Awareness

Added courses once Culinary Module is finished

  • Sint Maarten Culture & History

ENGLISH AS SECOND LANGUAGE  BASIC (ESL-BASIC)
This course caters to non-native English speakers who struggle with the language. The course is a collaborative effort between SMTF and the University of Sint Maarten (USM)

This course includes:

  • Personal information

  • Friends & family

  • Daily life

  • Shopping

  • Leisure time

Added courses once ESL-BASIC is finished

  • English as second Language Level-1 (ESL-Level1)

CONSTRUCTION

The construction courses are given at the National Institute for Professional Advancement (NIPA) in collaboration with Trinidad based MIC Institute of Technology (MIC-IT).

The courses offered are:

·       Masonry

·       Carpentry

·       Plumbing

·       Electrical

·       General Maintenance

HOW TO ENROLL

To participate in the EISTP, you need to sign up at the Labor Department.

 

Eligibility criteria to participate are:

 

  1. You must be a legal resident in Sint Maarten

  2. You must be unemployed or under employed (working less than 20 hours/week)

  3. You must be older than 18 years

 

Once eligibility has been established by the Labor Department, the applicant is sent to SMTF to complete the enrollment process and start classes.
